Brad and I have been busy little bees for the past few weeks. Brad has been putting forth more physical labor, while I have been more or less the supervisor. :) He got the nursery painted. And I must say, it is the prettiest shade of pink I have ever seen. He did a great job! Not only did he get the room painted, but we also took the brass doorknobs and hinges off all the doors in the nursery, and added satin nickel hardware.

We have also ordered the crib and furniture. I am excited about it, and can't wait for it to come in so that we can start placing the furniture, and hanging things on the walls. Below is a picture of the furniture that we ordered, except, imagine it in white.
I can't believe that I am already five months along, and that we have passed the halfway point. I feel that July will be here so soon! We are getting registered for childbirth classes this week. They start on April 13, and last for 7 weeks. I am really excited about that, because, although I have been reading all the books I can get my hands on, I still feel that I need classes to become more prepared. Even though I have nannied, and babysat, and worked with kids just about my whole life, I still feel as though there is so much for me (and Brad) to learn.

I think that is all of the updates I have right now. I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed Easter!

Oh the Places You'll Go

Once we found out we were having a girl, Brad decided to start reading to her every night, so that she can get used to hearing his voice. After a couple of nights of reading (and putting me to sleep), he came home from work with this book:

It's a cute little book, and was written specifically to be read while the baby is still in utero. You can do this with any book, but apparently, this book is is really good. If you read the same book to the baby while he or she is still in the womb, it begins to comfort her. So, after she is born, if she becomes fussy, you can read the book to her, and it will comfort and relax her. Having the same tone of voice, and fluctuation of voice that she heard daily in the womb carries to the outside world.

It's really sweet to have Brad so excited about becoming a dad. I love that he wants to bond with her, and get her used to his voice. Plus, when he reads to her, it is a moment that the three of us can share as a family.

Nursery Update: The walls are primed, the baseboards, crown molding, and doors have all been painted white. Hopefully this weekend, the pink can go up on the walls. Its a very pale shade of pink, so I think it will be very dainty and pretty.

By the end of the month, we will be ordering our crib and furniture for the room, and hopefully it will come in soon. As soon as it does, I will post pictures of it.

20 Week Belly Shot

I finally got around to posting my 20 Week Belly Shot! The belly is starting to look like a pregnant belly, rather than a belly that has had too many drinks. :) I think my belly (or the baby) has grown quite a bit since even last week, which is pretty exciting.

After Brad and I registered at Target and Babies R Us, I got back on Target to show someone the bedding that we had picked out, only to find out it was "Unavailable", and "Out of Stock". Being the neurotic person that I am, I started worrying that it would never become available. I started Googling black and white baby bedding, and ended up finding the bedding on Overstock.com WAY cheaper than it was at Target. Overstock also said that there were only 5 left, so I got the go ahead from Brad and ordered it. We are going to paint the walls pale pink and the bedding and accessories will be black and white, with some more splashes of pink around the room.

Here is a picture of what the bedding looks like. (This is NOT the crib that we want.)

It's a.....

Friday, Brad and I went to the doctor for the BIG ultrasound! We got to see the baby standing on its head, and kicking its feet, and its hands clasped together. It also weighed in at 13 ounces, which the doctor said was right on track. It was such an amazing thing to see. We decided not to find out the sex in the doctor's office. We had plans for our families to come over that night so we could all find out together by cutting into a cake. If the icing inside the cake was pink, it would be a girl. If it was blue, it would be a boy.

When it was time for the ultrasound tech to tell us the sex, we asked her write it on a sheet of paper and seal it up. Then Brad called the baker and we stepped out of the room while she told her what color icing it would be. Since our appointment was at 11:00 am, the rest of the day went by so SLOWLY!!!

My parents, Brad's parents, grandparents, and Brad's sister and brother in law were supposed to be at our house that night at 7. Most everyone was there by six thirty, so we had to wait for the longest 30 minutes ever to cut the cake. Here is a picture of the cake before we cut it:

And here is a picture of me cutting the cake, and everyone finding out whether we had a little girl or boy on the way:
You can barely make it out, but the icing is PINK!!! IT'S A GIRL!!!! Everyone seemed to be pretty excited, even all the men who I think were secretly hoping for a boy. :)

Saturday, while I was at work (yes, I had to work on a Saturday to make up one of the snow days we had had earlier this year), Brad and my mom worked on a closet system for the nursery. Here is the finished product. I think it came out perfectly!!

Saturday afternoon, Brad and I had to go shopping and start getting ready for our little girl, and bought her some little (and I mean LITTLE) clothes. Here is a picture of all the onesies we got her, as well as a bib that Brad picked out. We actually already had a few little baby hangers (I used to use to hang pants on before I discovered pant hangers) and we hung the onesies in the closet.

Once she gets some real clothes, and we get some furniture in the nursery, we will probably take them out of the closet and put them in drawers. But for now, her closet has some clothes in it. We are so lucky, blessed, and excited that all of you are able to join in and be a part of this time in our lives. We can't wait for everyone to meet our daughter when she finally arrives!

While we were out shopping, we started registries at Babies-R-Us and Target...just sayin'. :)
